Sinopsis

Una tos húmeda, también conocida como tos productiva o tos con flema, se caracteriza por la presencia de moco o flema expulsados del tracto respiratorio. Es típicamente un síntoma de infecciones, inflamación o acumulación excesiva de líquido en los pulmones o bronquios. El término "húmeda" se usa frecuentemente en la Medicina Tradicional China (TCM) y en enfoques holísticos para describir patrones de flema-humedad, que implican humedad interna, estancamiento y congestión.

A diferencia de las toses secas (que suelen ser irritantes e improductivas), una tos húmeda cumple el propósito de limpiar las vías respiratorias. Puede ser aguda (por resfriado o gripe), subaguda (posviral) o crónica (por asma, COPD o exposición ambiental). La flema persistente o excesiva puede indicar un drenaje inmunológico deficiente o una recuperación incompleta de una enfermedad respiratoria.

Tipos de Tos Húmeda:

  • Tos Productiva Aguda: Debida a infecciones respiratorias virales o bacterianas.

  • Tos Húmeda Crónica: Se observa en fumadores, asmáticos o personas con problemas de drenaje sinusal.

  • Tos Frío-Húmeda: Tipo TCM que implica flema clara y acuosa, frecuentemente acompañada de escalofríos.
