However, there is minimal direct historical documentation specifically linking turmeric to the treatment of kidney infections (pyelonephritis), as most uses relate more generally to urinary health.

On the scientific front, curcumin, the active compound in turmeric, has shown anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, and antimicrobial effects in vitro and in animal studies. These properties theoretically could be beneficial in the context of kidney infections, which involve inflammation and bacterial infection.
