In some traditional practices, turmeric is suggested as a supportive treatment for urinary tract and kidney-related issues, largely based on its perceived ability to reduce inflammation and promote healing. However, there is minimal direct historical documentation specifically linking turmeric to the treatment of kidney infections (pyelonephritis), as most uses relate more generally to urinary health.

On the scientific front, curcumin, the active compound in turmeric, has shown anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, and antimicrobial effects in vitro and in animal studies. These properties theoretically could be beneficial in the context of kidney infections, which involve inflammation and bacterial infection.
