The main active constituents in goldenseal, such as berberine, hydrastine, and canadine, are believed to have antimicrobial and anti-inflammatory properties, which may theoretically support stomach health by addressing infections or inflammation in the gastrointestinal tract.

However, the scientific evidence specifically validating goldenseal's efficacy for supporting the stomach is limited. Most modern research on goldenseal and its compounds has focused on their antimicrobial activity, especially against bacteria and fungi, rather than direct effects on the stomach or digestive processes.
