Citron (Citrus medica) has a long history of use in traditional medicine systems, particularly in regions such as South Asia and the Mediterranean. Headache relief is among the ailments for which citron has been recommended in folk remedies. In traditional Ayurvedic and Unani practices, citron is sometimes used as an ingredient in herbal preparations aimed at alleviating headaches. The rationale is often based on its aromatic properties and the belief that its volatile oils may have soothing effects. However, there is very limited direct scientific research or clinical evidence to support the efficacy of citron specifically for headache relief. Modern pharmacological studies on citron have largely focused on its antioxidant and antimicrobial properties, rather than its effect on pain or headaches.
