Synopsis

Source of validity: Traditional
Rating (out of 5): 1

Hedyotis corymbosa, commonly known as Oldenlandia corymbosa or "Parpadaga Pul" in some traditional systems, has been used in Ayurveda and other Asian traditional medicine systems for various ailments, including as a general anti-inflammatory and febrifuge. Its use in treating swollen glands (enlarged lymph nodes) is primarily based on these traditional practices, where it is believed to help "clear heat" and resolve swelling, likely attributed to its anti-inflammatory properties. However, the evidence supporting its specific efficacy in treating swollen lymph glands is largely anecdotal and not strongly documented in either classical texts or modern ethnobotanical literature. Scientific studies on Hedyotis corymbosa have shown some anti-inflammatory and immunomodulatory effects in vitro and in animal models, but there are no clinical studies or direct evidence substantiating its effectiveness for lymphadenopathy or glandular swelling in humans. Therefore, its use for this indication remains rooted in tradition rather than scientific validation.
