Synopsis

Source of validity: Traditional
Rating (out of 5): 1

Cynodon dactylon (commonly known as Bermuda grass or Durva grass) has a long history of use in traditional systems of medicine such as Ayurveda, Siddha, and folk medicine in India and other countries. It is reputed for its general anti-inflammatory, wound-healing, and detoxifying properties, and is sometimes used in folk remedies for conditions involving swelling or inflammation, including swollen lymph nodes (glands). However, this use is primarily based on traditional practices, not on rigorous scientific evidence. There are a few laboratory studies suggesting anti-inflammatory and immunomodulatory effects of Cynodon dactylon extracts, but these studies do not specifically address its efficacy in treating lymphadenopathy or swollen glands in humans. No clinical trials or robust preclinical studies exist that directly support its use for this condition. Its application for swollen lymph nodes remains anecdotal and rooted in traditional herbal formulations rather than validated by modern research. Therefore, its use in this context should be considered as traditional with very limited scientific backing.
