Osmanthus (Osmanthus fragrans) has been used in traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) for various purposes, most notably for its aromatic properties, its use in teas, and to treat certain respiratory and digestive ailments. There is some traditional documentation that Osmanthus has been included in herbal remedies for managing symptoms associated with fever, such as soothing sore throat or alleviating cough, likely due to its mild anti-inflammatory and soothing effects. However, Osmanthus is not considered a primary or classic antipyretic (fever-reducing) herb in traditional medical texts; it is more commonly used for its fragrance or as an adjunct in herbal blends rather than as a main ingredient for fever management.

There is minimal scientific research directly investigating the antipyretic (fever-reducing) effects of Osmanthus. Most studies focus on its antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, or antimicrobial properties, which could theoretically contribute to general symptom relief during febrile illnesses but do not directly validate its use for reducing fever.
