Natsudaidai (Citrus natsudaidai), also known as Japanese summer orange, has a history of use in traditional Japanese and East Asian folk medicine. It has been utilized for various purposes, including the relief of feverish conditions, largely based on its refreshing and cooling properties when consumed as a fruit or juice. The traditional use stems from the belief that many citrus fruits possess antipyretic (fever-reducing) effects, possibly due to their vitamin C content and hydrating qualities. However, there is minimal documentation in classical herbal texts specifically highlighting Natsudaidai as a primary fever remedy, and it is more often mentioned as a general health-promoting food. From a scientific standpoint, there is very limited evidence supporting the efficacy of Natsudaidai in directly treating or reducing fever.
