Jungli-bean, also known as Canavalia gladiata (sword bean), is primarily recognized in traditional medicine systems such as Ayurveda and various folk medicinal practices in South and Southeast Asia. Its use for treating fever is based largely on ethnobotanical records and anecdotal reports. Traditional healers have used different parts of the plant—including seeds, pods, and leaves—in decoctions or poultices to help reduce fever and alleviate related symptoms. These uses are generally documented in compilations of traditional remedies rather than supported by clinical or pharmacological research.

There is currently limited scientific evidence to validate the antipyretic (fever-reducing) properties of Jungli-bean. While some studies have investigated the plant for other pharmacological activities such as antimicrobial, anti-inflammatory, and antioxidant effects, robust laboratory or clinical research specifically focusing on its efficacy against fever is lacking. The absence of peer-reviewed studies or clinical trials means that support for this use remains primarily traditional, with a low evidence rating. As a result, while Jungli-bean is indeed mentioned in ethnomedical records for fever treatment, health professionals generally do not recommend it for this purpose based on current scientific standards.
