Petiveria alliacea, commonly known as "guinea hen weed" or "anamu," has been used in traditional medicine systems in Latin America, the Caribbean, and parts of Africa for a variety of ailments, including infections and inflammation. Reports from ethnobotanical surveys indicate that Petiveria has been applied in folk remedies to help alleviate earaches or ear infections, often in the form of leaf or root extracts applied locally or as decoctions.
