Ethnobotanical records document the use of genipap fruit, pulp, and juice as a digestive aid, believed to alleviate symptoms of indigestion and related gastrointestinal discomfort. Traditional healers have recommended genipap preparations as a mild laxative and to promote overall digestive health, attributing these effects to the fruit’s fiber content and potential bioactive compounds.

However, scientific validation for genipap’s efficacy in treating dyspepsia is limited.
