Chinese chive (Allium tuberosum), also known as garlic chive, has been used in traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) for various purposes, including supporting wound healing and treating cuts. In TCM, the seeds, leaves, and sometimes the juice of Chinese chive are applied topically or ingested to "dispel blood stasis" and promote tissue repair. Historical materia medica texts such as the Compendium of Materia Medica (Bencao Gangmu) reference the use of Chinese chive for external injuries, including minor cuts and wounds. The rationale is often based on its "warming" properties and believed ability to stimulate circulation and reduce pain.

Scientific validation for these uses is limited. While some studies have reported antimicrobial or anti-inflammatory properties in extracts of Allium species, there is little direct clinical or preclinical evidence specifically demonstrating efficacy of Chinese chive in wound healing or treatment of cuts. Most available research focuses on related Allium species such as garlic (Allium sativum) or onion (Allium cepa), and findings cannot be directly extrapolated to Chinese chive. Thus, the use of Chinese chive for cuts is primarily rooted in tradition, rather than robust scientific evidence.
