Ethnobotanical surveys from Morocco and surrounding regions record the use of this species as a mouthwash or topical application for oral ulcers, owing to its reputed anti-inflammatory, antimicrobial, and analgesic properties. These traditional practices are often based on the aromatic essential oils present in the plant, particularly thymol and carvacrol, which are known to exhibit antimicrobial activity in vitro.

However, while there is some scientific literature on the general antimicrobial and anti-inflammatory properties of Thymus species, there is limited direct research specifically on Thymus satureioides for the treatment of canker sores. Most available evidence is anecdotal or based on traditional knowledge rather than clinical trials.
