There is some traditional use of Cyperus species (such as Cyperus rotundus and related sedges) in the treatment of burns and scalds, primarily in Ayurvedic, Traditional Chinese Medicine, and various folk medicine systems. In these traditions, Cyperus is sometimes applied externally as part of herbal pastes or decoctions for its purported anti-inflammatory and wound-healing properties. However, the specific application for burns and scalds is infrequently mentioned in classical texts, and when it is, Cyperus is typically used as part of complex multi-herb formulations rather than as a primary or stand-alone treatment.
