Synopsis

Source of validity: Traditional
Rating (out of 5): 1

Fenugreek (Trigonella foenum-graecum) has a long history of traditional use in folk medicine, particularly in Indian and Middle Eastern cultures, for enhancing breast size and supporting lactation. The seeds contain phytoestrogens—plant-derived compounds that mimic estrogen, the primary female sex hormone responsible for the development of secondary sexual characteristics, including breast tissue. Traditional herbalists have used fenugreek as a galactagogue (to increase milk production in breastfeeding women), and anecdotal reports also suggest it may have a modest effect on breast fullness or size. However, scientific studies directly examining fenugreek’s ability to increase breast size in non-lactating women are lacking. Most available evidence is either anecdotal or based on its weak estrogenic activity observed in laboratory settings. No robust, peer-reviewed clinical trials have demonstrated a significant or reliable increase in breast size due to fenugreek supplementation. Thus, while the use of fenugreek for breast enhancement is justified from a traditional medicine perspective, current scientific evidence does not strongly support its effectiveness for this specific purpose.
