Kokilaksha (Asteracantha longifolia, also known as Hygrophila auriculata) is a herb commonly cited in traditional Ayurvedic and Siddha medicine. The plant has been historically used for a variety of ailments, including as a diuretic and for liver disorders. In the context of treating boils (localized skin infections), Kokilaksha is mentioned in some traditional texts and ethnobotanical reports as part of polyherbal formulations or as a poultice. The rationale for its use is primarily based on its purported anti-inflammatory and wound-healing properties, as described in traditional materia medica.
