Purslane (Portulaca oleracea) is a succulent plant commonly used in traditional medicine systems throughout the world, including Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) and various folk remedies. In these traditions, purslane has been employed for its purported anti-inflammatory, analgesic, and cooling properties. It is sometimes used as an ingredient in topical preparations or teas intended to soothe general aches and pains, which may include backache. However, the use of purslane specifically for backache is not well-documented in classical herbal texts or pharmacopeias, and such references tend to be anecdotal or regionally specific rather than widespread.
