Chinese Agarwood (Aquilaria sinensis, known as "Chen Xiang" in Traditional Chinese Medicine, TCM) has a long history of use in East Asian medical systems, particularly for supporting the Stomach and digestive functions. In TCM, Agarwood is classified as aromatic, warm, and is believed to direct qi (energy) downward, relieving symptoms such as vomiting, nausea, belching, and abdominal pain. It is commonly included in formulas to "regulate qi," "warm the middle," and "stop vomiting"—all concepts related to harmonizing the function of the Stomach and Spleen according to TCM theory. The use is well-documented in classical texts such as the "Compendium of Materia Medica" and remains relevant in modern TCM practice.

However, modern scientific research on Agarwood's effects on the digestive system is limited. Some pharmacological studies have identified sedative, anti-inflammatory, and spasmolytic properties in Agarwood extracts, but these studies are preliminary and often not specific to the Stomach or digestive function. There are no high-quality clinical trials in humans specifically validating its efficacy for digestive complaints. Thus, while the traditional use is well-established, scientific validation remains insufficient.
