Folate, also known as vitamin B9, is strongly supported by scientific evidence for its role in the female reproductive system, particularly in relation to pregnancy and fetal development. Numerous large-scale studies have demonstrated that adequate folate intake before and during early pregnancy significantly reduces the risk of neural tube defects (NTDs) in the developing fetus.
