Ledebouriella (commonly referring to Ledebouriella seseloides, also known as Fang Feng in Traditional Chinese Medicine) is used primarily based on traditional practices rather than robust scientific evidence. In TCM, Fang Feng is considered to "expel wind" and alleviate pain and inflammation. While it is more commonly used for conditions such as headaches, arthritis, and colds, traditional formulas may include Ledebouriella as a component to address oral ulcers or canker sores, believed to be caused by "wind-heat" or "dampness" in TCM theory. However, there is little to no direct scientific research validating its efficacy specifically for canker sores (aphthous ulcers) in modern clinical trials or pharmacological studies. Most references to its use for oral ulcers are found in traditional herbal texts and compendia, not in peer-reviewed biomedical literature. Any benefit reported is anecdotal or based on centuries-old herbal formulations, not contemporary medical research.
