Sinopsis

La retinopatía diabética es una complicación de la diabetes que causa daño a los pequeños vasos sanguíneos de la retina, el tejido sensible a la luz en la parte posterior del ojo. Con el tiempo, los niveles elevados de azúcar en sangre debilitan y dañan los vasos sanguíneos de la retina, lo que lleva a filtración, inflamación y reducción del suministro de oxígeno. Si no se trata, puede conducir a pérdida de visión o ceguera.

Típicamente progresa a través de etapas, comenzando con una retinopatía no proliferativa leve, donde los vasos sanguíneos comienzan a debilitarse, y avanzando hacia una retinopatía diabética proliferativa, donde nuevos vasos sanguíneos anormales crecen en la retina y pueden sangrar o causar desprendimiento de retina.

Tipos de Retinopatía Diabética:
