While its most well-documented traditional uses are for digestive health and detoxification, classical Ayurvedic texts also mention its application in supporting urinary tract health, primarily through its purported mild diuretic and antimicrobial properties. These texts suggest Triphala can help cleanse the urinary tract and may assist in the management of urinary tract infections and stones. However, modern scientific studies specifically investigating Triphala’s effects on the urinary system are limited and often not of high quality. Some in vitro and animal studies have indicated potential antimicrobial and antiurolithiatic (anti-stone) activities, but human clinical trials are lacking or inconclusive. Most evidence supporting Triphala for urinary health remains anecdotal or rooted in historical practice rather than robust clinical research. Thus, its use to support the urinary system is justified primarily by tradition, with only preliminary and low-grade scientific support.
