Rosa Roxburghii, also known as chestnut rose, is a fruit traditionally consumed in parts of China for its nutritional and medicinal properties. In recent years, some scientific studies have explored its potential effects on lipid metabolism, including triglyceride levels. Preclinical studies, primarily in animal models, have suggested that extracts of Rosa Roxburghii can lower serum triglycerides, total cholesterol, and LDL cholesterol, possibly due to its high content of polyphenols, vitamin C, and flavonoids. These compounds are thought to exert antioxidant effects, improve lipid metabolism, and reduce oxidative stress.

However, the evidence base is still limited. A handful of small-scale clinical trials in humans have reported modest reductions in triglyceride levels following supplementation with Rosa Roxburghii extracts in hyperlipidemic patients, but sample sizes are small and study designs are not always rigorous. Most of the published studies originate from China and are not widely replicated or peer-reviewed in international journals.

In summary, while there is some preliminary scientific evidence—mainly from animal studies and a few small human trials—to suggest that Rosa Roxburghii may have a triglyceride-lowering effect, the overall quality and quantity of evidence is currently modest.
