The thymus is a primary lymphoid organ responsible for the maturation of T-cells, a critical component of adaptive immunity. Several studies have demonstrated that dietary fatty acids can influence immune cell function, inflammation, and the composition of cell membranes in immune organs.

Research in animal models has shown that supplementation with omega-3 fatty acids can impact thymic function, such as by modulating thymocyte proliferation and apoptosis. Some evidence suggests that omega-3 fatty acids may help preserve thymic structure and function, particularly during aging or under stress conditions, by reducing excessive inflammation that can damage thymic tissue.
