Human growth hormone (HGH) has strong scientific validation for its role in supporting the skeletal system. HGH is a peptide hormone produced by the anterior pituitary gland that is crucial for normal growth and development, especially in children and adolescents. It directly stimulates the growth of bone and cartilage by promoting the proliferation and differentiation of chondrocytes (cartilage cells) and osteoblasts (bone-forming cells). In children with growth hormone deficiency, HGH therapy is a standard, FDA-approved treatment to increase linear bone growth and help achieve normal adult height. In adults, growth hormone continues to play a role in maintaining bone density by stimulating bone turnover and remodeling. Clinical studies demonstrate that adults with growth hormone deficiency have decreased bone mineral density and an increased risk of fractures, and HGH replacement therapy can partially reverse these deficits. However, in individuals with normal HGH levels, there is no evidence that additional HGH improves bone health and its use outside of deficiency is not recommended due to potential adverse effects. In summary, the use of HGH to support bone growth and maintenance is well-established in the context of deficiency syndromes, with robust scientific evidence from decades of clinical and experimental research.
