Synopsis
Source of validity: Traditional
Rating (out of 5): 1
Gotu kola (Centella asiatica) has a long history of use in traditional medicine systems, particularly Ayurveda and Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM). These systems regard gotu kola as a “brain tonic,” believed to enhance mental clarity, memory, and spiritual awareness. In some esoteric traditions, the pineal gland is associated with the “third eye,” and herbs that are considered to benefit mental clarity or spiritual faculties are sometimes said to support this gland. However, while there are some animal and in vitro studies suggesting that gotu kola may have neuroprotective effects or support cognitive function, there is no direct scientific evidence connecting gotu kola to pineal gland health or function specifically. Its use for the pineal gland is based more on its generalized reputation for mental and spiritual support in traditional systems, rather than any established physiological mechanism or clinical evidence targeting the pineal gland. Therefore, its connection to pineal gland support is rooted in tradition, not modern scientific validation.
