Almond fruit (specifically the nut, commonly referred to as an "almond") has been used in various traditional medicine systems for supporting headache and migraine relief. In the context of Unani and some folk medicine traditions, almonds are considered beneficial for the brain and are sometimes recommended as part of dietary management for headaches or migraines, possibly due to their content of magnesium, vitamin E, and healthy fats. However, these traditional uses are not strongly backed by rigorous scientific studies specifically targeting migraine treatment or prevention.

From a scientific standpoint, magnesium supplementation has shown some benefit in migraine management, and almonds are a modest source of magnesium. However, the amount present in a typical serving of almonds is lower than the doses of magnesium shown to be effective in clinical trials for migraine prevention. No clinical trials have specifically evaluated almond consumption versus placebo for migraine outcomes.
