Stenabolic (SR9009) is a synthetic compound known as a Rev-ErbA ligand, often described as a “metabolic modulator.” It is not an approved medication for any human condition, but preclinical (animal and cell) studies have explored its potential effects on metabolism. In rodent models, SR9009 appears to increase mitochondrial activity, enhance energy expenditure, reduce fat mass, and improve markers related to metabolic syndrome, such as insulin sensitivity and lipid profiles. These effects are thought to result from its action on the Rev-ErbA nuclear receptor, which plays a role in regulating circadian rhythm, fat storage, and glucose metabolism.
However, there are no human clinical trials supporting the use of Stenabolic for metabolic syndrome. All available evidence is limited to laboratory and animal studies. While these preclinical findings are promising and suggest a potential therapeutic application, the lack of human data means its safety, efficacy, and appropriate dosing for metabolic syndrome remain unproven. Additionally, SR9009 is not approved for medical use and is often sold as a research chemical. Its use in humans is associated with unknown risks.
