Evidence supporting the use of: Canadian Goldenrod
For the health condition: Lymph Nodes or Glands (swollen)
Synopsis
Source of validity: Traditional
Rating (out of 5): 1
Canadian Goldenrod (Solidago canadensis) has a long history of traditional use in herbal medicine, particularly among Indigenous peoples in North America and later in European herbalism. Traditionally, goldenrod has been used to address a variety of ailments, including those related to the urinary tract, inflammation, and as a general “cleansing” herb. Its use for supporting or treating swollen lymph nodes or glands appears to stem largely from these traditions, where it was believed to help “cleanse” the body, reduce swelling, and support the lymphatic system. However, there is little to no direct scientific evidence specifically validating goldenrod’s efficacy in treating swollen lymph nodes. Most modern research on goldenrod focuses on its anti-inflammatory, diuretic, and antimicrobial properties, but not on lymphatic health or lymphadenopathy directly. As such, while its use for swollen glands is rooted in traditional practices, current scientific literature does not provide robust evidence for this specific indication.
