In the context of supporting the Large Intestine (Colon) body system, its use is based primarily on traditional beliefs in its detoxifying and laxative properties. In Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), figwort (known as Xuan Shen) is sometimes used to clear heat and toxins, which are thought to impact the bowel and skin; however, its primary indications are more focused on throat and skin health than direct colon support.
