In traditional herbal medicine, "bitters" like Oregon grape are employed to promote bile flow, increase appetite, and support general digestive function. However, while these traditional uses are well-documented in herbal literature, high-quality clinical studies specifically investigating Oregon grape for indigestion are lacking. Most of the scientific research on Oregon grape focuses on its antimicrobial, anti-inflammatory, and liver-protective effects, rather than direct evidence for treating indigestion.
