Synopsis

Source of validity: Traditional
Rating (out of 5): 2

Rosabin is not a well-defined or widely recognized pharmaceutical ingredient; however, it often refers to an extract from Rosa centifolia (cabbage rose) or related species, which have been used in traditional medicine. In the context of hemorrhoids, rose extracts (and in some cases, commercial topical preparations containing "Rosabin") have been used historically for their purported astringent, anti-inflammatory, and soothing properties. These uses are predominantly supported by traditional practices in herbal medicine, particularly in South Asian and Middle Eastern cultures, where rose preparations are sometimes applied topically to inflamed tissues, including hemorrhoids, to reduce discomfort and swelling.

Despite these longstanding traditional uses, there is a lack of robust clinical evidence from controlled scientific studies specifically evaluating the efficacy of Rosabin or rose extracts for hemorrhoids. Most of the available support comes from anecdotal reports, traditional medical texts, and extrapolations from the general anti-inflammatory and wound-healing properties ascribed to rose extracts. Thus, while the use is rooted in tradition and supported by some historic herbal literature, it is not strongly validated by modern clinical research.
