Synopsis

Source of validity: Traditional
Rating (out of 5): 1

Noni fiber (derived from the fruit or leaves of Morinda citrifolia) is primarily used to support or treat hemorrhoids based on traditional medicine practices, particularly in regions such as Polynesia, Southeast Asia, and India. Historically, various parts of the noni plant have been applied topically or ingested to address a range of ailments, including digestive disorders, skin issues, and inflammation. In the context of hemorrhoids, noni fiber or poultices made from noni leaves may be used topically to purportedly reduce swelling and promote healing, based on anecdotal evidence and longstanding folk practices.

However, there is little to no rigorous scientific research directly evaluating noni fiber's efficacy for hemorrhoid treatment. Most available studies on noni focus on its antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties in general, not specifically on hemorrhoids or anal inflammation. Thus, while its use persists in traditional medicine, clinical validation is lacking, and its effectiveness for hemorrhoids is not supported by strong scientific evidence.
