Sesamin is a lignan compound found primarily in sesame seeds and sesame oil. Research suggests that sesamin may exert beneficial effects on the heart and vascular system through several mechanisms:
- Lipid Regulation: Animal studies have shown that sesamin can lower total cholesterol, LDL cholesterol, and triglyceride levels, possibly by modulating enzymes involved in lipid metabolism.
