Parsley (Petroselinum crispum) has a long history of use in traditional herbal medicine, including for heart-related concerns. In folk medicine, parsley was sometimes employed as a diuretic, and diuretics have been used to help manage high blood pressure, indirectly supporting cardiovascular health. Additionally, parsley contains nutrients such as vitamin C, vitamin K, and folate, all of which are linked to heart health, but its use specifically as a heart remedy is rooted more in tradition than robust scientific study.
Scientific evidence for parsley’s direct effects on the heart or cardiovascular system in humans is limited and mostly preliminary. Some animal and in vitro studies suggest that parsley extracts may have antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties, and might contribute to lowering blood pressure, but these findings have not been confirmed in large, high-quality clinical trials.
