Evidence supporting the use of: Bee products
For the body system: Glandular System
Synopsis
Source of validity: Traditional
Rating (out of 5): 2
Bee products, such as royal jelly, propolis, bee pollen, and honey, have a long history of use in traditional medicine systems to support various aspects of health, including the glandular (endocrine) system. In traditional Chinese medicine and folk remedies, these substances have been used to promote vitality, balance hormones, and improve energy, which are often linked to glandular health. Royal jelly, in particular, is reputed in some traditions to enhance reproductive health and support the function of glands such as the ovaries and testes. However, the scientific evidence directly linking bee products to improved glandular system function is limited and largely inconclusive. Some small studies suggest that royal jelly may influence hormone levels (for example, estrogen) or have mild endocrine effects, but these findings are preliminary and not widely confirmed. Most uses are based on anecdotal reports or traditional usage rather than robust clinical trials or mechanistic studies. Therefore, while the use of bee products for glandular health is historically rooted, scientific validation is weak, and further research is needed to substantiate these claims.
