Evidence supporting the use of: Stenabolic
For the health condition: Fat Metabolism (poor)
Synopsis
Source of validity: Scientific
Rating (out of 5): 2
Stenabolic (SR9009) is a synthetic compound often classified as a “Rev-Erb agonist.” It is not a traditional medicine nor a supplement found in nature, so there is no history of traditional use. Scientific interest in SR9009 focuses on its effects on fat metabolism, energy expenditure, and circadian rhythm through activation of the Rev-ErbA nuclear receptor. Several preclinical studies in mice have demonstrated that SR9009 can increase mitochondrial activity, boost basal metabolic rate, and reduce fat mass, even in the absence of changes in diet or activity. For example, a widely cited 2013 study published in Nature Medicine (Solt et al.) showed that mice treated with SR9009 had improved lipid and glucose metabolism, increased oxygen consumption, and reduced body fat compared to controls.
However, despite promising animal data, there is currently no published clinical evidence in humans demonstrating the efficacy or safety of Stenabolic for fat metabolism or weight loss. Most of the claims regarding its benefits are based on animal or cell studies, and SR9009 is not approved for human use by medical regulatory agencies. Potential side effects, appropriate dosage, and long-term risks are unknown. Accordingly, while there is a scientific rationale and some preclinical evidence supporting its effect on fat metabolism, the overall quality and applicability of the evidence to humans is low at this time.
