Synopsis

Source of validity: Scientific
Rating (out of 5): 2

Inka Peanut Fat, also known as Sacha Inchi oil, is derived from the seeds of Plukenetia volubilis, a plant native to the Amazon region. The oil is notable for its exceptionally high content of polyunsaturated fatty acids, particularly alpha-linolenic acid (ALA, an omega-3 fatty acid) and linoleic acid (an omega-6 fatty acid). Several small clinical studies and experimental research have investigated the effects of Sacha Inchi oil on lipid metabolism. These studies suggest that supplementation with the oil can improve blood lipid profiles by reducing total cholesterol, low-density lipoprotein (LDL) cholesterol, and triglycerides, while increasing high-density lipoprotein (HDL) cholesterol. These effects are attributed to the high omega-3 content, which is known to play a role in supporting healthy fat metabolism and cardiovascular health.

However, the direct evidence for its use specifically in treating "poor fat metabolism" (i.e., metabolic disorders characterized by dyslipidemia or impaired lipid handling) is still limited. Most studies are small in scale or preliminary, and there is a lack of large, long-term randomized controlled trials. The mechanism is plausible, and the results are promising, but further research is required to establish efficacy and optimal dosing. Thus, the scientific evidence supporting the use of Inka Peanut Fat for poor fat metabolism is rated as modest (2/5), reflecting early-stage but encouraging research.
