Maca (Lepidium meyenii) is a root vegetable native to the Andes of Peru, where it has been used for centuries as a food source and traditional remedy. Historically, maca has been consumed by indigenous populations to promote stamina, energy, and endurance, particularly in the challenging high-altitude environment of the Andes. The traditional use of maca for supporting energy stems largely from anecdotal reports and cultural practices, rather than rigorous scientific investigations.
Scientific studies on maca’s effects on energy are limited and generally small in scale.
