Cinnamomum, commonly known as cinnamon, has been used traditionally in various cultures to address symptoms related to low energy or fatigue. In Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), cinnamon bark (Cinnamomum cassia or Cinnamomum verum) is considered a warming herb believed to invigorate the circulation of "Qi" (vital energy) and dispel cold, which is sometimes associated with feelings of tiredness or lethargy. Similarly, Ayurvedic medicine has employed cinnamon as a general tonic, sometimes suggesting it may help "invigorate" the body and improve vitality.
Despite these traditional uses, there is limited scientific evidence directly supporting the use of cinnamon for improving energy levels or treating fatigue in otherwise healthy individuals. Most modern research on cinnamon focuses on its effects on blood sugar regulation, antimicrobial properties, and antioxidant capacity. While stable blood sugar can indirectly influence perceptions of energy, no robust clinical trials specifically support cinnamon as an effective remedy for low energy or fatigue. Therefore, while cinnamon’s historical use for this purpose is clear, the scientific evidence is weak, and its effectiveness in this context remains unproven.
