Overall, horsetail’s use for edema is primarily based on traditional knowledge rather than strong scientific validation. While it appears to be generally safe for short-term use in healthy adults, more high-quality clinical research is necessary to confirm its efficacy and safety for treating edema, especially in patients with underlying health conditions. Due to the lack of robust evidence, horsetail should not be used as a substitute for medically prescribed diuretics or treatment of serious edema without consulting a healthcare professional.
