Gotu kola (Centella asiatica) has a long history of use in traditional medicine systems such as Ayurveda and Traditional Chinese Medicine. Traditionally, it has been used for a variety of conditions, primarily for improving mental clarity, wound healing, and as a general tonic. In some folk medicine traditions, gotu kola has been used to address symptoms like dizziness, often as part of remedies aimed at “balancing” the mind and body or improving circulation. However, there is little direct documentation in classical texts specifically prescribing gotu kola for dizziness; rather, its use is inferred from its broader application for neurological and circulatory complaints.

Scientifically, there is insufficient evidence to support the use of gotu kola specifically for dizziness. Modern research has focused more on its potential benefits for anxiety, cognitive function, and venous insufficiency. Some studies indicate that gotu kola may improve microcirculation and reduce anxiety, which could theoretically help with some causes of dizziness, such as anxiety-related or circulation-related dizziness. However, these connections are indirect and have not been rigorously studied in the context of dizziness as a standalone symptom. Therefore, while traditional use exists, scientific validation is lacking, and the evidence supporting its use for dizziness is weak.
