Evidence supporting the use of: Artemisia Herba-Alba
For the health condition: Dislocation
Synopsis
Source of validity: Traditional
Rating (out of 5): 1
Artemisia herba-alba is traditionally used in some cultures for a variety of medicinal purposes, including wound healing and musculoskeletal complaints. In certain regions of North Africa and the Middle East, traditional healers may recommend preparations of Artemisia herba-alba for topical application to aid in the recovery from injuries, including sprains and dislocations. However, the use of this plant specifically for "dislocation" is not well-documented in scientific literature, and most references are anecdotal or found in ethnobotanical surveys that list it among many plants used in folk medicine for trauma or joint issues. There is currently no robust clinical evidence or modern pharmacological studies directly supporting the efficacy of Artemisia herba-alba for treating or supporting recovery from joint dislocations. The traditional use may stem from the plant's reputed anti-inflammatory and analgesic properties, which could theoretically provide symptomatic relief. Nonetheless, the evidence base is very limited, and its use for dislocation is not supported by controlled studies or official guidelines. Thus, while there is some traditional precedent, the scientific evidence is minimal, and the strength of support is rated very low.
