3-(4-hydroxy-3-methoxyphenyl)prop-2-enoic acid is the chemical name for ferulic acid, a phenolic compound found in plant cell walls. There is a moderate level of scientific evidence supporting its potential benefits for the circulatory system. Preclinical studies have demonstrated that ferulic acid exhibits antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, and vasodilatory properties, all of which are relevant to cardiovascular health. For example, animal and in vitro studies suggest that ferulic acid can scavenge free radicals, reduce lipid peroxidation, and protect vascular endothelial cells from oxidative damage. Some research also indicates that ferulic acid can inhibit platelet aggregation and improve lipid profiles, which may help to reduce the risk of atherosclerosis and other cardiovascular diseases.

However, human clinical trials are limited. A small number of studies in humans have reported improved blood pressure and endothelial function after ferulic acid supplementation, but these studies are generally small, short-term, or of limited methodological quality. There is not yet robust, large-scale clinical evidence to firmly establish its efficacy in supporting the circulatory system. Overall, while the existing scientific literature provides a reasonable basis for the potential cardiovascular benefits of ferulic acid, further high-quality clinical research is needed to confirm these effects in humans.
