Fish protein, particularly from sources like fish peptides and hydrolyzed fish protein, has gained scientific attention for its potential benefits in supporting circulatory health. The primary mechanisms proposed relate to bioactive peptides present in fish protein, which have been shown to possess antihypertensive, antioxidant, and anti-inflammatory properties. Several animal and human studies have demonstrated that specific peptides derived from fish protein can inhibit angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE), thereby lowering blood pressure—a key factor in improving circulation. Additionally, fish protein hydrolysates may help improve endothelial function and reduce arterial stiffness, further supporting circulatory health.

The evidence is not as robust as that for fish oil (omega-3 fatty acids), which are more widely recognized for cardiovascular benefits. However, a handful of small clinical trials and experimental studies indicate that regular consumption of fish protein or its hydrolysates can result in modest improvements in blood pressure and vascular function. For example, a randomized controlled trial published in the Journal of Nutritional Biochemistry (2016) found that daily supplementation with fish protein hydrolysate improved arterial elasticity in older adults.
