Hedyotis, commonly known as Oldenlandia, is a genus of plants frequently used in traditional medicine, particularly in Asia. In traditional Chinese medicine (TCM), Hedyotis diffusa is often included in herbal formulas for its purported anti-inflammatory, detoxifying, and immune-modulating properties. While it has been used for a variety of health conditions, including respiratory diseases, its specific application in the treatment or support of Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disorder (COPD) is primarily based on historical or anecdotal use rather than robust scientific research. The traditional rationale for using Hedyotis in COPD is usually its perceived ability to "clear heat" and "remove toxins," concepts rooted in TCM theory rather than biomedical science.
