Synopsis

Source of validity: Traditional
Rating (out of 5): 1

Grapes, particularly grape seed extract and grape skin, have been used in traditional medicine for various health benefits due to their high content of polyphenols, antioxidants, and flavonoids. The use of grape or grape-derived products for cellulite is primarily based on tradition and anecdotal evidence rather than robust scientific validation. Traditional herbal medicine sometimes recommends grape extracts to support vein health, improve circulation, and reduce swelling, which are factors considered relevant in the context of cellulite. Cellulite itself is characterized by subcutaneous fat deposits and connective tissue changes, leading some to speculate that improving microcirculation with natural products like grape extract may be beneficial. However, scientific studies specifically examining grapes or grape-derived ingredients for cellulite reduction are limited and generally of low quality. Some small studies suggest that antioxidants may support skin health and circulation, but they do not directly demonstrate efficacy for cellulite. Therefore, the use of grape for cellulite is best characterized as traditional, with a weak evidence base, and should not be considered a proven or primary treatment.
