Sacha Inchi protein, derived from the seeds of Plukenetia volubilis, has gained attention due to its high content of plant-based protein and essential fatty acids, especially alpha-linolenic acid (ALA), an omega-3 fatty acid. Scientific studies investigating Sacha Inchi oil and seeds have shown positive effects on cardiovascular risk factors, such as improvements in lipid profiles (reducing LDL cholesterol and increasing HDL cholesterol). However, direct research on Sacha Inchi protein isolate (as opposed to the oil or whole seed) and its effects on cardiovascular disease (CVD) is limited.

Some small human and animal studies suggest that the consumption of Sacha Inchi protein may help lower blood pressure and improve cholesterol levels, likely due to the presence of bioactive peptides and its favorable amino acid and fatty acid composition. For example, a study published in Food & Function (2017) found that Sacha Inchi protein hydrolysates exhibited ACE-inhibitory activity in vitro, suggesting potential antihypertensive effects. However, most of the clinical evidence supporting cardiovascular benefits relates to the oil, not the protein isolate.
