Pineapple (Ananas comosus) is sometimes discussed in the context of cardiovascular health primarily due to its content of bromelain, a proteolytic enzyme, as well as its rich antioxidant profile (notably vitamin C and manganese). Scientific studies and preclinical research suggest that bromelain may exert several cardioprotective effects, including anti-inflammatory, antiplatelet, and fibrinolytic activities. These mechanisms could theoretically reduce blood clot formation and support vascular health. Additionally, the antioxidants in pineapple may help combat oxidative stress, a key factor in the development of atherosclerosis and other cardiovascular diseases.

However, the direct clinical evidence supporting pineapple or bromelain supplementation for the prevention or treatment of cardiovascular disease in humans is limited and not robust.
