Macadamia oil is used to support cardiovascular health primarily based on scientific evidence. This oil is rich in monounsaturated fatty acids (MUFA), particularly oleic acid and palmitoleic acid. Several clinical and observational studies indicate that diets high in MUFAs, such as those found in macadamia oil, are associated with lower levels of LDL ("bad") cholesterol and improved lipid profiles, which are important factors in cardiovascular disease risk reduction.

Specific research examining macadamia oil has found that its consumption can lead to modest reductions in total cholesterol and LDL cholesterol in both healthy individuals and those with mild hypercholesterolemia. For example, a randomized controlled trial published in the journal Lipids (2000) demonstrated that replacing saturated fats with macadamia oil led to significant improvements in serum cholesterol levels. Additionally, macadamia oil contains phytosterols and antioxidants, which may further contribute to cardiovascular benefits by reducing inflammation and oxidative stress.

However, while these findings are promising, the body of evidence is not as extensive or robust as that for olive oil, and most studies are small or short-term.
